Autumn Term 2024

Handa’s surprise

The Owls’ have been very busy again this term.

We started the term with learning about our families, listening to sounds in the ‘Peace at last’ story and then looking at Autumn & Harvest through our ‘Little Red Hen’ story.

Our favorite by far was the Handa’s surprise story looking different fruits and the repetitive text.

Kandinsky - Art week

We also looked at the artist Kandinsky and his style of using concentric circles for art.

We used his style to create some Autumn trees with concentric circles.

My Happy Mind

Next, we looked at the moon landing and space creating some great rockets.

We also looked at ‘Elmer and the big bird’ for anti-bullying week, looking at building good friendships and how we can do this.

Alongside this we started our ‘My Happy Minds’ work to learn about our brain and how it works to make us feel things and how we can help control it.

Each Peach Pear Plum

We looked at Nursery Rhyme & story characters through ‘Each Peach Pear Plum’ and used the ‘talk for writing’ method to map out the story.

Kippers’ Birthday

We then looked at celebrating Kippers’ Birthday by making a birthday cake for him.

We talked about how we all celebrate differently, and looked at what birthdays mean.

Christmas

This is always another busy time with lots of fun activities. We made party capes of our own designs.
