Devonshire Kids Club was formed 18 years ago and is registered as a charity with the '4children' national organisation.

We are self funding, with a fully qualified staff who all hold CRB clearance certificates and who are responsible for the day to day running of the breakfast club.

WHERE TO FIND US:             FRANCIS COMMUNITY LODGE

Our building is situated on the far side of the main playground opposite the junior school building. It can be accessed from the playground, with the main entrance situated in Heidelberg Road. There is a bell on the Heidelberg Road entrance to ring for access.
The building has wheelchair access with a ramp leading from the building to the main playground. All rooms in the building are on one level and there is also a disabled toilet facility.

Committee Meetings

The committee meets once in each of the Autumn, Spring and Summer terms

There is an Annual General Meeting held in the Autumn term to which both Head Teachers and parents are invited to meet with the committee and staff members for the annual report. This is an opportunity for both parents/carers to meet with the committee to share their views and ask questions.

Staffing

Our staff all have relevant qualifications and experience with caring for children and their needs.
All staff have undergone DBS checks and have also taken part in training in Safeguarding , Prevent , and Data Protection.
Each member of staff is 'Paediatric' First Aid Trained and also holds a certificate in Health and Food Hygiene.
There are four permanent members of staff and one 'bank' staff member to cover sickness and/or absence.

Mobile Phones

In compliance with Portsmouth City Council Policy, staff are not allowed to have access to their mobile phones within the setting. There is a mobile phone register for staff.

Any mobile phone brought to the setting is stored in a secure place and returned to the owner at the end of the session.

Children who bring mobile phones to the setting must give them to the Play Leader for safe keeping.

Fire Practice

Not all children attend the breakfast club every day, therefore fire practices are scheduled on different days throughout the academic year. This enables all children the opportunity to take part and to become confident with the fire-drill routine.

New children will be instructed in the fire procedures for the setting as part of their 'Induction' process.
